On May 10, community leaders, parks and recreation professionals, advocates and supporters of the Parks Foundation packed the Vancouver Hilton for our Annual Luncheon. We distributed more than $125,000 in community grants and celebrated our Florence B. Wager Award recipients.
Emcees Jim Mains and Gary Bock provided a fun atmosphere leading a bingo game and an impromptu auction. Five lucky bingo winners received gift cards to Dutch Bros and Beaches Restaurant. Beaches’ Mark Matthias surprised everyone by donating a pre-opening chef’s critic table at his new venture, Warehouse ’23, which went up for auction and sold for $1,000! Next, Waterfront developer Barry Cain gave a captivating keynote speech about all of the fantastic things happening at Vancouver’s waterfront. For a full list of grant recipients, click here. In addition to distributing community grants, the annual luncheon also celebrates the recipients of the Florence B. Wager Awards, which honor local leaders who have contributed an outstanding level of commitment and service to our parks, trails, and recreation.
Congratulations to John and Debra Bauman, recipients of the Leading Eagle Award; Marie Bouvier, recipient of the V-Formation Flyer Award; and Bill Bjerke, recipient of the Tributary Award. Thank you for your dedication and tremendous support for parks, trails and recreation in Clark County. To read their stories in full, click here.
We would also like to thank our sponsors: Gramor Development, The Waterfront Vancouver USA, Waste Connections, Vesta Hospitality, Riverview Bank and OnPoint Community Credit Union, as well as Dutch Bros and Mark Matthias for their generous donations. And, of course, thank you to all who attended! It was a great crowd, and guests at every table made the choice to donate in support of next year’s grants. We are overwhelmed by the support of our community!
